The BHS swim team delivered a strong performance at their cluster meet on Wednesday April 15 against Silverado, Apple Valley and Adelanto, with many swimmers achieving new personal records. The meet highlighted both individual improvement and overall team depth as the Burros continued to build momentum late in the season. Senior swimmer Dustin Bui led the charge; after already securing CIF qualifying times in the 100-yard breaststroke, he breezed through his events and set the tone for the team’s success.
Freshman Lily Waltz also stood out with an impressive swim, dropping seven seconds from her 500-yard freestyle time, an especially impressive improvement for such a demanding endurance event. The Burros’ relay teams added to the excitement, with the girls’ main relay team capturing victories in both the 200 IM relay and the 200 freestyle relay. Their coordination and energy in these events reflected the team’s strong chemistry and growing confidence as they approached the final stretch of the season.
Sophomore Peyton Whitely emphasized the impact of the meet, saying, “This meet really boosted the team’s energy, firing us up for our final two meets.”
With only a couple of competitions remaining, the team is focused on maintaining this energy and continuing to improve times across the board.
Burroughs will compete in its final league meet before finals on Wednesday, April 22.
