The track and field teams at Burroughs High School wrapped up the 2026 season with strong performances, steady improvement, and a focus on team connection that carried them through the spring.
The Burros remained competitive throughout the season, contributing across distance, sprint, and field events while continuing to improve week by week. Athletes recorded personal bests and stepped into key roles, highlighting the team’s depth and development.
For the girls team, the season marked a historic milestone. Burroughs secured its third consecutive league championship, extending a streak that has redefined the program. Before this three-year run, the girls team had never won a league title in school history, making the achievement especially significant.
Senior captain Eve Washburn said the season stood out not just for performances, but for the bond built among teammates.
“Track went amazing! It was so fun to get close with all the girls and push myself to the next level,” said Washburn.
Fellow senior captain Kaydence Stewart said the team’s perseverance defined the season.
“The season definitly had some challenging moments. We were able to push through and improve together as a team! I couldn’t be prouder, especially seeing everyone improve,” said Stewart.
In the field events, the team saw one of its biggest highlights. Adalyn Eggleston set a new school record in the girls’ pole vault, reflecting both individual dedication and the program’s continued growth.
As the season concludes, Burroughs track and field looks to build on its success, carrying forward its strong team culture and momentum into future years.
