Burroughs sophomores Felix Madrigal (right) and Talen Houck (middle) show off their hard-earned hardware after tackling the Nov. 15 High Desert Classic mountain bike race on the trails behind Cerro Coso Community College — riding unicycles instead of bikes. The 8.5-mile course was made even more challenging by muddy trails and steady rain, but both riders rose to the occasion, with Houck finishing first and Madrigal placing second. Rounding out the podium was Madrigal’s father, Jose, who claimed third place.
