Ridgecrest has noticeably been spruced up in the past two years, seeing a refreshing wave of fast-food joints and shops. The city has expanded eateries with additions like Jersey Mike’s, Wendy’s, and Habit Burger. Retail favorites Five Below and Ross are conveniently located side by side in the city plaza that formerly only housed Marshalls. Places that called for an out-of-town trip are now only a five-minute drive away.
But the sweetest is yet to come: Crumbl Cookie Lab!
Crumbl rose to social media fame for its innovative cookies and cakes that satisfy anyone’s sweet tooth tendencies.
“It’s such a coincidence because Crumbl was one of my flyer themes during my campaign for ASB Junior Class Vice President,” laughed sophomore Cambria Rizzardini. “I’m excited for Crumbl to open since it will be a fresh spot for outings with my friends!”
Students are already speculating about the delectable flavor combinations that could be brought to Ridgecrest.
“I would really like to see the S’Mores Brownie, Olivia Rodrigo GUTS cookie, and the cookies and creme milkshake cookie,” chimed in junior Karena Michel.
Restaurant Careers Teacher April Bravo was inspired by the buzz generated in her day-to-day classes around Crumbl.
“I decided to spin that enthusiasm into a new project,” said Bravo. “My student bakers will whip up imitation Crumbl cookie line-ups bi-weekly! We’ll have samples from each student’s line-up available in the cafeteria during lunch for people to taste-test.”
Bravo is optimistic that this project will encourage her student bakers to explore “whisking up imagination” and experimenting with bold flavor pairings.
In collaboration with Crumbl Cookie Lab, the best cookie mash-ups could even earn a spot on the menu upon opening day! Pastries will be evaluated based on ingenuity and taste, and standout students could be immortalized on the “Cookie Corridor of Fame.”
Be sure to pop into the cafeteria to grab a sweet treat— it might be almost as good as the real thing!
