Burroughs students can look forward to a night of energy-filled music, dramatic lighting, and memorable moments at this year’s King of Hearts (KOH) dance on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 8-11 p.m. in the Burroughs High School gym.
The dance, organized by the ASB sophomore class, will feature new decorations and special effects designed to make this year’s “Masquerade of Moments” KOH stand out. One of the biggest additions will be indoor sparklers placed near the DJ booth.
“One unique aspect we wanted to include in this year’s KOH dance was indoor sparklers,” said Deborah Robesky, head of the sophomore class. “These almost firework-looking decorations will be placed by the DJ to add another level of excitement and fun to the dance that we haven’t really had before.”
ASB also feels good about their choice of DJ.
“The DJ we ended up booking is from the company out of Bakersfield,” Robesky said. “We decided to book this company because it’s the same one that did HOCO, and it seemed to get pretty good feedback from the students.”
Preparations for the dance have been ongoing, with everyone pitching in to make the event a success.
“KOH can be a very demanding project, so in preparation, the whole ASB class has been helping,” Robesky said. “The planning, for the most part, has gone super smooth with pretty much no complications, thankfully.”
Robesky is looking forward to enjoying the results of all that effort.
“I am most excited to be able to see the finished product of the dance,” Robesky said. “The sophomore representatives in ASB have been working very hard and put a lot of time and effort into this dance, so it’s exciting to see it all come together.”
The dance begins at 8 p.m. Tickets will not be sold at the door.
