On Sept. 3, the school put out a welcoming message to all campus visitors with the installation of an electronic marquee between the CTE building and the Front Office.

“We thought a marquee would be a great addition to the communication systems Burroughs currently has,” said Principal Carrie Cope. They initially considered putting the marquee at the intersection leading onto the campus so they could let students, parents, and the community know about school activities, but they found that the campus does not have electricity out by the street.  Putting the sign by the Front Office was the next best option, providing an added bonus of drawing attention to the somewhat nondescript building.

The new electronic sign replaces the non-working marquee on the quad and was approved by ASB last spring along with other campus beautification projects.  The marquee will also school administrators and ASB to provide important announcements.

“We haven’t gotten the chance to use it yet, but hopefully we can write a sweet welcome back message come the in-person school year!” said Junior Class President Sairilia Denson.

Cope expressed thanks to ASB for approving the addition and to the Sierra Sands maintenance department for installing the electrical wiring for the marquee.
