March is already a busy month for the ASB leadership class, as they recognize outstanding students and prepare for next week’s rally week and dance.
To begin, ASB recognized all students whose semester grades improved over first quarter by at least .5 percent. In addition, on March 7, ASB hosted a pizza party for all students who made Honor Roll. Dozens of students enjoyed slices from Papa John’s in recognition for their stellar academic performance.
ASB Advisor Laura Larson thanked Papa John’s for their continued support of the Honor Roll program.
“They are always so friendly and are always willing to help the schools and we appreciate it!” said Larson.
Looking ahead on the calendar, Burroughs will be expecting neon lights within its sky next week! The Blacklight dance is set for Mar. 15 from 8-10 p.m.
This year’s dance is set to impress, with the KOH Dance’s DJ keeping students on the dance floor.
To get students hyped for the Blacklight dance, the ASB theme for the lead-in spirit week and rally is “We Got The Beat!”
Appropriately, the spirit days are all connected to song titles. Monday is “My House” by Flo Rida, Tuesday is “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore, Wednesday is “Snooze” by SZA, Thursday is “Hey Mickey” by Toni Basil, and Friday is “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd.
For “My House” students will wear Burroughs colors. For “Thrift Shop” students will wear mismatched clothing. For “Snooze,” students will wear pajamas or comfy clothing. For “Hey Mickey,” students will dress or wear something Disney. Finally, for “Blinding Lights,” students will dress in neon and white.
The rally games will tie in with music scenarios to help boost the rally theme. After the rally, Burroughs students will prepare for the Blacklight dance the same day.
“I’m really excited for the Blacklight dance because I’ve never been to one and this is my last chance,” said ASB President Liliana Urbina, senior. “I think it’s going to really good, I’m really excited to see how it turns out and how everyone likes the dance.”
