On Saturday, Feb. 3, Burroughs held its annual King of Hearts dance. Senior Leopoldo Vazquez was voted and crowned King during the Saturday night dance, as students were won over by his kind and funny personality.
“It felt amazing knowing people thought I was good enough for the title, which made me feel loved and welcomed,” said Vazquez.
ASB worked hard behind the scenes to ensure the entire week leading up to the big night and the dance itself was filled with fun and creativity.
ASB Advisor Laura Larson was able to see her students’ hard work put into action.
“As the sophomores are in charge of everything, I was very impressed with how they executed their thoughts and ideas,” said Larson.
ASB plans months in advance to sort everything out and create a vision that they would want to come to life. This year’s theme was “Under a 1,000 Lights.”
Sophomore Class President Audrey Robesky explained how the entire week was full of both anxious anticipation and excitement.
“Having to plan and be prepared for everything was stressful,” said Robesky. “After all of our dedication and hard work, it all led up to a wonderful night for everyone.”
From the DJ, decorations, photo booth, props, and a first-time-ever cold sparks special effect, ASB was able to see the student’s enjoyment of the entire week and the dance.
Junior Joshua Rivera was one student who had a grand time with the fun spirit days during the week and the winter rally ASB held on Feb. 2. He also enjoyed seeing the cold sparks used for the first time in the gymnasium.
“I had a lot of fun at the rally and enjoyed all of the different and fun games ASB came along with,” said Rivera.
The DJ also earned positive reviews from the students. The DJ will perform later this year at the Blacklight dance and Prom.
