With the second semester starting, Burrough’s Book Club is now back up and running. They had their first meeting on Thursday, Feb. 1, in PACC 5 during lunch. During the meeting, members of last year’s book club and recruits elected their officers.
Members who attended the first meeting expressed how lively the atmosphere was, despite there being a small attendance of seven people.
“Although it was just the first meeting, I already fell in love with the group,” said Spurlock. “It’s just like a big friend group, where everyone has something in common, the love for books!”
Book Club has also decided that they, through voting, will proceed with a traditional book club structure. This means that all members will read the same book at their separate times, and discuss it with one another at the next meet-up.
After a semester break, Book Club hopes they can reignite people’s forgotten love of books. They plan to promote the club’s activities that aren’t just reading. That includes bonding with each other over potlucks, as well as fundraising with bake sales and hand-crafted goods.
For their upcoming meetings, they hope to discuss promotion strategies, which book will be chosen for the forthcoming weeks, as well as events to connect others.
Book Club holds their meetings every Thursday in PACC 5, and is open to new members!
