With the fall season, the Burroughs ASB class has planned a lot of events related to Homecoming, seasonal sports, and more. From Sept. 29 to Oct. 14, every day will be another to look forward to!
ASB members plan these events to get students of all grade levels involved in building a stronger school community, and to urge students to try something new and fun.
“[I think it will] further encourage new students to participate in all the activities,” said Freshman ASB Representative Taylor Johnson.
The school calendar is very busy with upcoming Homecoming events. Although the cheerleaders plan the Oct. 14 dance and Oct. 13 coronation, ASB coordinates several events leading up to it, including this Saturday’s painting of B Mountain.
On Oct. 5, Homecoming Dodgeball will take place. Although sign-ups are already over, feel free to come and cheer on your friends. Students formed teams by grade level, and will compete to win first place!
On Oct. 10, the Amazing Race will be held.
During the event, humans and “zombies” will be tagging each other, racing, and having fun in general. Different clubs and activities will have booths with different games and challenges for teams to participate in. Students are welcome to come and cheer for their friends.
If you are looking forward to dressing up, Homecoming Spirit Week will be from Oct. 10-13.
Oct, 10 is Country vs. Country Club Day. Students are encouraged to wear camo, boots, polos, tennis skirts, khaki pants, etc.
Oct. 11 is Class Colors Day. Seniors wear black, juniors wear green, sophomores wear white and freshmen wear gray.
Oct. 12 is Decades Day. Make sure to dress in clothes from your favorite decade!
Oct. 13, is Blackout Day. Students are encouraged to wear all-black clothing.
ASB plans to continue the long-standing tradition of Powderpuff. Football players and cheerleaders switch places on the field, resulting in an evening of fun!
Practices begin next week for the big game, which will be Oct. 11 on the football field. Make sure to show up to cheer on all of your friends, and maybe even get a laugh out of it.
Powderpuff practice for all teams and sides will be from October 2, 2023, until game day.
On Oct. 12, ASB will finish their class Homecoming floats. The finished floats will be presented at Homecoming coronation.
In addition to Homecoming-related events, the school is preparing other opportunities to get involved.
On Sept. 29, 2023, make sure to wear your baggiest and comfiest clothes to look like the man himself, Adam Sandler.
On Oct. 2, 2023, although not a spirit day, seniors are encouraged to wear their painted shirts from B Mountain.
This is only the beginning, and ASB will be sure to have more events for all students alike.
“I’m excited to see what happens next, ” said freshman Quan Laskey.
