Burroughs is adding another rung to the Metal Shop ladder, just above Metal 3. Metal 4 will be taught by Sam Thompson.

The goal of the class is to “expand the learning capabilities of our students who want to work in the Fabrication and Manufacturing industry.”

The class is meant to be much tougher than the Metal 1-3 feeder courses, focusing on advanced fabrication and welding techniques.

Thompson said projects would include a steam engine, a pump, and an advanced project using multiple disciplines.

Given the course’s prerequisites, Thompson expects enrollment to be limited to the most advanced and committed metal-working students.

“This is going to be a demanding class with only a few seats available!”
