On Thursday, Aug. 18, the Burroughs Varsity Girls Volleyball team hosted and won their first home match of the season against Tehachapi, one of the more challenging teams they play. This win is especially thrilling for the girls because Tehachapi has been a major opponent for Burroughs for the past ten years, as they have had multiple close calls but no wins.

This match sets the bar for Burroughs as winning three consecutive sets (3-0) is a notable improvement over last year’s 2-3 score against the Warriors.

“This win proves to our team that they are capable of putting up a fight against bigger teams like Oak Hills and Serrano, and maybe even come out with a win on top of it!” said Varsity Head Coach Stephanie Phillips.

Each set had the audience in suspense with impressive saves, aces, and blocks. No matter the challenge, the Girls Volleyball team is ready to put in the work to make Burroughs proud. Come to see their next home game when they face off against Serrano on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
