
What is your educational/professional background?
I have an Associate’s in Early Childhood Education, a BS in Exercise and Sport Science, a MA in Exercise Physiology, and I am currently back in school working towards my CA teaching credential.
What are you looking forward to about the year?
I am looking forward to getting to know my freshman students and finding my place in the school community.
What do you like about your subject?
I am not a “sit still” kind of person, so I like the PE keeps me moving all day long. I also like teaching others about having an active lifestyle.
When you aren’t teaching, what do you like to do for fun?
For fun, I LOVE spending time with my family (I have the coolest kids, the best husband, and a wonderful dog).

Favorite movie: Daddy’s Home 2, Favorite book: Winter Garden (by Kristin Hannah)
What might surprise your students to know about you?
Hmmm. That I am a runner?? I don’t love racing/sprinting, but I am great at running longer distances (NOT fast!). I have done the Disneyland Half Marathon and am doing the OTHTC Desert Ultra 30K in December.

A motivating quote that motivates me: “Choose to be optimistic; it feels better.”

What is your educational/professional background?
Went to school at the University of MN, Twin Cities, and majored in Elementary Education with a minor in Child Psychology. I have a master’s degree in Education, and in addition to a science background, am trained as a PLTW (middle school level) teacher and AVID teacher.
What are you looking forward to about the year?
I am most looking forward to the new culture (and all the fun things BHS has to offer) and higher expectations for students.
What do you like about your subject?
Science is everything and everywhere! It is the backbone of good decision-making and problem-solving for the world, from health to environment to technology and entertainment!
When you aren’t teaching, what do you like to do for fun?
When not teaching, I like to watch TV and movies, enjoy the outdoors, especially if animals are involved, and be with my family.
What is your favorite book and/or movie?
My favorite movie is The Princess Bride!
What might surprise your students to know about you?
My family likes to live life to the fullest and find adventures, from scuba diving, hiking, rock climbing, and flying in our airplane (my husband has a plane, and the kids are learning to fly).

Shopping or doing something active.

I caught a baby hammerhead shark while fishing in the ocean.

Taught in Gwinnett County for 17 years in Georgia’s largest district.
What are you looking forward to about the year?
Getting in the groove with Burroughs and helping students reach their full potential through study skills, research, and meaningful conversations.
What do you like about your subject?
I’m able to directly help students in all classes.
When you aren’t teaching, what do you like to do for fun?
Cooking and trying new experiences.

I lived in Panama for 2 years.

What is your educational/professional background?
I graduated from Burroughs in 2014 and have my BA in English. Currently, I’m working towards my Master’s degree.
What are you looking forward to about the year?
I’m looking forward to being able to come back as a teacher instead of a student; I want to have that connection again.
What do you like about your subject?
I’ve enjoyed revisiting the English curriculum as an adult now. A lot of these books I haven’t reread since I was a student here.
When you aren’t teaching, what do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy spending time with my nephew and crocheting. Recently, I’ve taken up pickleball. I’ve joined two local teams here in Ridgecrest.
What might surprise your students to know about you?
I’m a gifted baker but I struggle with cooking.

I have my Master’s in Teaching with a Special Education credential. I used to teach at Murray for five years before coming to Burroughs.
What are you looking forward to about the year?
I am looking forward to being at a new school and assisting my students in adjusting and participating in their high school events.
What do you like about your subject?
I love being able to care for our most vulnerable students. They are so genuine and very loving people.
When you aren’t teaching, what do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy hanging out with my family and watching my sons play sports.
What is your favorite book and/or movie?
I really love the Harry Potter books and movies.
What might surprise your students to know about you?
I think my students would be surprised to know how many kids I have and that I’m already a grandmother.
