Burroughs’ fourth annual Kickback offered a fun-filled Friday night for students eager to begin the new year on a positive note!
Hosted by the ASB sophomores, the event featured games, food, and shaved ice, providing a lively and laid-back atmosphere for students to enjoy.
The relaxed atmosphere was perfect, allowing students to have fun and unwind. The students were able to chat with friends and create long-lasting memories.
“Getting to hang out with my friends was definitely my favorite part about Kickback,” said sophomore Isaac Smith.
The various events, including bucket ball, spike ball, and cornhole caught attention from most students. These activities were also led by teachers who appeared to have just as much fun.
“Kickback really helps as a teacher because it gives me an opportunity to know the students outside of the classroom, ” said History Teacher Alexander Grogman. “I find it easier to connect with them when they’re doing something unrelated to history!”
With over 400 students attending, ASB was thrilled with the outcome.
“We received positive comments about having the Kickback after the Green-and-White Scrimmage, which allowed more students to attend,” said ASB Advisor Laura Larson. “We thank everyone who came!”
Credit for the event’s success goes to the ASB’s sophomore class, who put in the effort to keep all the event-goers entertained and the event running smoothly.
“To prepare for the Kickback, we took inventory of all the games that have been used in the past, shopped for new equipment, bought water and snacks, and contacted teachers and volunteers,” said ASB Sophomore President Taylor Johnson.
All over the football field, students actively participated in games, enjoyed the company of friends, and made their way to the Shaved Ice Shack.
“I think the Kickback is a great way to kick-off the year,” said junior Audrey Robesky. “Everyone is making new friends, which starts the new year off on a good foot, making it very memorable.”
