Movie-making magic is coming to a theater near you soon — and you can become part of the excitement for 2024-25!
Burroughs Film Production students will be showing their latest films Friday, May 10 at 5:30 p.m. at Ridgecrest Cinemas.
The film fest, the second of the year, will showcase the dramas the students have worked on during the class’ second semester. A promotional reel is available at BHSBlast.org.
Film Production Teacher Melanie Arrieta is impressed with both the amazing work and successful learning that has taken place in the class.
“The most rewarding part of this first year has been watching my students become capable professionals while also growing as artists and having fun along the way,” said Arrieta.
She said that there have been many creative stories and interesting ideas that were created and brought to life by the students.
Not surprisingly, the filmmakers spoke excitedly about their hands-on experiences.
Senior Jamie Louer appreciates the various opportunities she has been granted from taking the class and encourages others to register for the class.
“If you’re debating on whether to take the class or not, I highly advise you to do so because you’re acquiring so much, yet having a lot of fun at the same time,” said Louer.
Next year, Arrieta wants to include even more videography within school activities and events.
“I want to give my students even more opportunities to get their hands on cameras and do real work that contributes to their community,” said Arrieta.
Arrieta said it is not too late to be a part of the movie-making magic. Students can see their counselor to enroll in the class. For more information, reach out to Arrieta.
