I watched the second showing of the Burroughs High School production of “Charlotte’s Web” and it was extraordinary! During the play, the actors showed great enthusiasm and did an impressive job of getting into their characters. It was really fun seeing the acting skills of my peers outside of the classroom.
This is the first time I’ve seen a Burroughs play, and after watching this I plan on attending future productions. The detailed props and costumes kept me engaged throughout the play. My favorite part was seeing Charlotte (Teresa Germann) write the famous words on her web — it was very creative. The shapes and sizes of the letters made them appear like they were actually made out of web.
I was surprised at how fast the actors and the tech crew could change the scene. They were very organized and made sure the audience didn’t get bored.
I also loved seeing the scene shift from the farm to the state fair. The details of the scene were explicit and the actors did a good job of changing their attitudes to fit the scene.
The actor who played Templeton (Briona Stewart) did an extraordinary job portraying his arrogant, greedy nature. Stewart perfectly captured his scratchy tone and her costume flawlessly resembled the rat.
I really enjoyed it when Wilbur (Murolo Patchin) ran around the set of the barn announcing the hatching of Charlotte’s babies. The fast motion did a great job of hooking the audience in and adding more action to the play. The entrances of the little spiders (Irma Lopez, Charlotte Petersen, and Eleanor Petersen) were sweet and were adored by the audience.
After the play concluded the enthusiasm didn’t stop. The cast members greeted the spectators outside and continued expressing the passion they had for their roles.
I definitely recommend attending future Drama productions, the cast always puts in hard work and truly makes the story come to life!
