Do you speak emoji?
That’s the question ASB is asking juniors and seniors this year, with an online contest to guess this year’s Prom theme.
The junior or senior who correctly translates the six-emoji puzzle into this year’s Prom title will earn a free pair of tickets. If no one guesses the exact wording, the tickets will go to whoever is closest.
“We are trying to build some buzz around Prom,” said Burroughs ASB Advisor Laura Larson.
The creative idea is the brainchild of Junior Class President Ryan Morrison. Entry forms were sent to juniors and seniors through their school email and immediately sent students scrambling to decipher the images. By Wednesday afternoon, 104 submissions had been received.
“Most of the guesses are in the general area of the theme name, but no one has gotten it correct yet,” said Morrison. “It’s been a mixture of people putting a lot of thought into it and being creative along with people giving one-word replies for their guess.”
Winners will be announced Tuesday. The dance is scheduled for April 27 at the Kerr McGee Center.
