It’s happened again.
All three Burroughs Robotics teams have qualified for the state championship, to be held at Bakersfield College on March 2.
While the Varsity team qualified earlier this year at the season’s final qualifying match, the other two teams earned their places Saturday in a skills-based “last chance” match to qualify.
The JV team placed 11th and the Freshman team placed 14th.
The competition was not without its challenges.
The Freshman team worked hard but ended up having some coding issues at the competition. After some quick fixes to their code, they were able to pull through and qualify.
All BHS robotics teams worked hard to get where they are: fine-tuning their robots, coding, and strategizing for the competitions; they will continue to do so going into this year’s state meet.
JV Team Captain Tyler Torres, a sophomore, was excited for the chance to go to state again and hopefully go to worlds this year.
“We worked hard for this chance to go to state again,” said Torres. “Even though we have had some issues, I have high hopes for my team in this upcoming competition.”
Junior John Baronowski hopes that at least one team can go to the World Championships.
“I would be happy if even just one team could make it to worlds,” said Baronowski. “My team probably has the highest chance, but I would be fine with any team making it.”
Everyone in the club is feeling optimistic going into this year’s State Competition and they are all hoping they do well.
