Attention seniors!
The deadline is coming to submit FAFSA forms for colleges. FAFSA, Free Application for Federal Student Aid, helps students financially with college. This aid helps millions of students every year who continue their education after high school.
Counselor Dave Vigneault encourages every student to complete their FAFSA form.
“You are able to receive free money to attend college and you can qualify for scholarships along the way,” said Vigneault.
This year, the document has become significantly easier for both students and parents. Originally, it was set to have 120 questions and needed multiple documents. Now, there are only 40 questions and it is not as involved as before. More people are now able to complete the FAFSA form because it is much more condensed.
Senior Roxanne Boggs, who hopes to attend either Boston College or Notre Dame, has completed her FAFSA and motivates others to do the same.
“It helps a lot with college and is able to give you more choices financially,” said Boggs.
Every college has their own deadline for when the FAFSA form is submitted, but Vigneault encourages students to complete and turn in their form by March 1 the latest. Even if students don’t believe their family will qualify for any aid, they should still complete their form. There could be grant money or scholarships available for them.
There are multiple websites students can visit to find college financial aid, such as Scholarship Search, National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, and Guidance for Money Management for College.
