Tiny garments, huge hearts. Key Club takes on a mission at the Child Development Center, transforming donated baby clothes into packages of joy.
“We have worked with the center before as a way to help families within our community and as a way to make use of clothes that would have gone to waste!” said Key Club President Xiomara Rivera, a senior.
Children’s clothing of all sizes and both genders were donated in volume to the Child Development Center by generous families. Then, with the help of members, folded into different size groups.
Members then filled bags with the sorted clothes, each with specific sizes and gender. Lastly, the center distributed them to families.
“It’s a great experience knowing I am able to help a family within the community,” said freshman Tamanh Nguyen. “It really doesn’t take much work folding clothes, in fact, I even enjoy sorting the little outfits!”
With the help of community donations and volunteers, families in need are being provided for, one tiny outfit at a time.
The Child Development Center provides an assortment of goods and services to those in need, most especially families and mothers struggling. The community project serves as a way for families to both donate and collect clothing.
“Although the turnout wasn’t as large as our last baby clothes project, our members worked just as efficiently,” said Key Club Vice President Shiza Chaudhry, a senior. “We hope to continue working alongside the Child Development Center to provide for our community.”
