Participating in a performance can be hard to keep the lines straight. For Murolo Patchin, who frequently takes on multiple performances, it’s even more of a challenge.
The Burroughs sophomore is a frequent performer on both the school stage and at the local community theater.
They began never wanting to do anything with performing; they were terrified to perform in front of other people. Soon enough, they were offered auditions from a local play. From the beginning, they knew it was what they wanted to do and fell in love with performing.
Learning to balance school, plays, and other activities has been a struggle, but they have found their way around it.
“School ends around 3:45 for me, because of Madrigals, then I have school rehearsal from then until 5:30, and then I have my other rehearsal from 7-9,” said Patchin.
As they have profusely put in all the work for the various plays they’ve been in, they recognize how you can make so many new friends and partake in new experiences.
“Performing gives you both connections and confidence, which you can apply to your everyday life,” said Patchin.
Eileen Poole, the drama teacher, also acknowledges their hard work and determination to theater all around.
“I can count on them to do any role and they not only learn the lines quickly, but they become the character while on stage,” said Poole.
Patchin cannot wait for their next play, Charlotte’s Web, to take place in December.
