The Girls Tennis team’s season has come to an end.
After multiple successful matches, the team was eliminated in the first round of CIF after losing 2-16 against Garden Grove High School.
The season got off to a great start, with Burroughs winning overall during the Hesperia Tournament to kick off the season.
The team plays both singles and doubles, with the Varsity teams being made of three singles players and three doubles partnerships. Whether a player was part of a singles or doubles team was based on individual skill level.
“The best players on the team usually play single positions, unless directed by the coach,” said Varsity Captain senior Shannon Kelly.
Clearly, both the singles and doubles teams possessed great strength and skill. Overall, the team won 11 total matches and lost five. They were third in the league.
The team worked incredibly hard throughout the season, working towards both personal and group goals, and perfecting their skills.
“I trained hard over the summer, playing about 14 hours a week to hone my skills and additionally going to the gym to get stronger,” said Kelly. “My personal goal this season was to support the team as much as I can.”
Though the team stayed busy with daily practices and playing in both home and away matches, they still made sure to have time to bond as a team, allowing them to develop a more connected mindset.
“My favorite part of the season was being able to have dinner with my team after tennis matches,” said Kelly. “It is always a lot of fun.”
After months of dedication and hard work, the Girls Tennis team finally gets a well deserved break. We can’t wait to see where the season takes them next year!
