This winter sports season, the BHS wrestling team is ready to kick off the season with a fresh record and to further excel and continue with their former glory.
“I feel that the team is excited this year,” said Aaron Cole, a former Team Captain and current Manager due to injury. “For a few of us up there, it’s our last year and we want to make it count. Most of the team is very new, so I think that they’re very excited for their first match.”
While there were many bumps in the road last wrestling season, as there are in every sport, BHS wrestling is ready to face any challenging opponent in their way.
“Hesperia and Oak Hills have always been our toughest. They have had wrestling clubs for years before they got to the high school level of wrestling,” said Cole. “But now since Ridgecrest has a club, the Ridgecrest Wrestling Club, the people that go through that program before high school will be much more successful for the season.”
With each practice, the team grows stronger.
“I think that everyone is getting into a lot better shape with more cardio,” said Cole.
The wrestling team encourages all to join, regardless of grade or skill level.
“It’s never too late to join while you’re here. Even if you’re a Junior this year, you can come during this season and even next season as a Senior. You can go extremely far,” said Cole. “Once you wrestle, everything else is easier.”
The team’s first match is an away match against Quartz Hill on Nov. 16.
