On Saturday, Nov. 4, Burroughs High School Robotics participated in the third and final set of preliminary matches at Centennial High School in Bakersfield. This competition was where the top teams chose alliances for playoffs.
The JV Burros Robotic Team 7422H did well. They won three out of the four matches at the tournament, improving their overall record to 8-6 and putting them in ninth place.
7422B stayed at .500 with a record of 7-7, moving them to 11th place.
The freshman team 7422C faced complications and won only one out of four matches. They dropped down to 16th place with a record of 6-8.
The teams had many successes throughout the meet.
“Some of our biggest successes were our punishers, divers, and walls,” said junior John Baronowski.
After all the matches were done, the teams chose their alliances. 7422H got the seventh-seed ranking in the playoffs and chose ACE Robotics to collaborate with for the next game.
They were delighted with how high they were ranked.
“We are feeling optimistic about our chances,” said sophomore Matthew Firouzi after the competition.
The team is looking forward to the playoffs and hoping to perform well at state as they have before.
Team 7422B got the eighth seed, choosing fellow Burroughs team 7422C as an alliance. They hope to have more time to work together than if they chose an outside team.
