It’s no secret that Taylor Swift is the biggest music artist in the world right now. Swift’s popularity has skyrocketed in past years. Her songs are at the top of countless people’s playlists and her project of re-recording her albums is anticipated by her entire fan base. Not to mention, her Eras’ Tour has become a smashing sensation. Speaking of which, want to witness the concert but don’t have the chance to? You’re in luck; our very own cinema is screening the recently released Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie!
The film’s runtime is 2 hours and 48 minutes and it’s well worth the watch. Throughout the movie, songs from the following albums or “Eras” are shown (in this sequence) : Lover, Fearless, Evermore, Reputation, Red, Folklore, 1989, and Midnights. There were even two surprise songs added, “Our Song” and “You’re on You’re Own, Kid.”
The atmosphere of the theater makes for an all-around great time for Swifties. If you hear almost anyone talking about when they went to watch the concert movie, they all will probably say the same thing. Everyone cheers in the theater for their favorite Era. They sing and dance along to Swift’s songs and the whole room is filled with energy. Swifties band together and connect with one other through something they deeply enjoy.
Senior Amanda Huynh was glad she was able to relive her experience from when she attended the Eras Tour back in August.
“My favorite part was dressing up and bringing bracelets to trade with people,” said Huynh. “While the movie wasn’t on the same level as being there in person in terms of the energy, costumes, and bracelet trading, it was still so cool to see all the details of Taylor’s performances with the amazing cinematic shots and up-close scenes!”
Freshman Elliana Elwell also had the opportunity to attend the Eras’ Tour and appreciated the parallel between the actual concert and the film.
“I was a little bit disappointed that a couple of her songs were extracted, but everyone in the theater was just as loud, said Elwell. “I loved how they showed each era with such creativity, especially the Reputation Era.”
To fulfill the experience even further, the cinema has merchandise available imprinted with an iconic poster of all of Swift’s Eras.
Freshman Sandy Abundis-Bellington was more than happy to take advantage of this.
“I bought the popcorn bucket and the souvenir cup,” said Abundis-Bellington. “I was also given a small poster by an employee. It was a way to remember the fun time I had with my friends.”
Even the ticket prices are Taylor coded. For adults, it’s $19.89 each and for kids, it’s $13.13. 1989 is a reference to one of her albums and 13 is her signature number.
As far as we know, screenings of the film will be continuing onto November 5th, so grab some tickets while you still can and go with your friends! Rest assured, it will be a magical night you won’t forget and don’t be surprised if you lose your voice, too!
