We all are familiar with Wordle, a worldwide phenomenon since 2022. Six tries to guess a five-letter word; the concept of the game is so simple, yet it captures the interest of thousands.
The New York Times has continued to expand its games. The latest offering? That would be Connections.
With Connections, players are given a grid of 16 words which they have to place into groups of four. Players select these groups based on trial and error and trying to figure out the correlation between the words they’re presented with.
There’s a catch, though. They only have room for four mistakes and there’s four levels of increasing difficulty.
The possibilities for what the categories could be are limitless. This is what players find to be the most riveting part of Connections. It challenges their minds.
“I like the game because it makes me think outside the box,” said junior Lilly Keehan. “The answer is never as obvious as it seems.”
Countless students look forward to playing the NYT Games and seeing how they do. It’s become built into their daily routines. In fact, if you look around on campus, your fellow classmates and even teachers are probably pulling up Connections on their Chromebooks or phones when they have a chance during the day.
“Usually, I do my Wordle and then my Connections. I play them either at the beginning of my classes or when I’m at lunch,” said junior Kayla Santiago. “I feel like it’s an important step of my day!”
Not surprisingly, social media has been a big push for these games. If anyone searches for the Wordle side of Tiktok, they will see accounts belonging to Savannah Dellulo, Michael Disconstanzo, Kenny Haller, and many more! These individuals post multiple times a day with videos of their Wordle results, and ever since it got released, Connections.
Thanks to the platform spreading the game, more and more people are drawn into playing Connections and comparing how they do to other people.
Looking at the hashtags, Wordle has 4.4 billion views and Connections has 346.3 million views. Connections has just been released this summer, so watch out, Wordle! Connections could take your place!
