Callers reaching Burroughs will be welcomed by a friendly new voice with the addition of Burroughs receptionist Jared Onstott, who just finished her first month working in the front office.“I’m looking forward to getting to know the people at this school,” said Onstott, who is enjoying the variety that comes with the job. “No day is ever the same. It keeps life interesting.”
Onstott moved to Lake Isabella six years ago after living in Washington state. Onstott, her husband, and her two dogs moved to Ridgecrest to be closer to family and to spend more time riding their dirt bikes together. The biggest issue for Onstott so far has been learning everyone’s name.
“I’m not great with names so it’s been a challenge,” says Onstott.
Onstott is now at Burroughs to help answer students’ questions, welcome visitors, update the bulletin, and support the office.
Even though she has only worked here for only a month, BHS has already grown fond of Onstott. “The new receptionist is wonderful,” said Principal Carrie Cope. “She is friendly, helpful, and a hard worker. She’s a quick learner and if she doesn’t know the answer, she will find out. I’m happy to have her as part of the BHS team.”
Students who have any questions can visit the office and meet a friendly face.
“Please don’t be afraid to stop by and say hi!” said Onstott.
