Review: “Jungle Cruise” offers exciting ride
Calling all Disney lovers!
If you’ve been to a Disney park, you’ve likely been on the Jungle Cruise ride. On the ride, attendees are able to take an exciting journey through the jungle, accompanied by a witty tour guide. Now, you can experience the thrill of the ride on a whole new level by watching Disney’s newest film addition, “Jungle Cruise”!
“Jungle Cruise” follows Dr. Lily Houghton (played by Emily Blunt), and her brother McGregor as they travel along the Amazon with skipper Frank Wolff (played by Dwayne Johnson), as they search for an ancient tree that could change medicine of the world forever. Along the way, they encounter many, many challenges, and equally as many heartfelt and humorous moments.
This movie far exceeded my expectations. The film quality was highly immersive, which made viewers feel as if they were actually part of the film. This worked in favor of the film, as it added to the thrill of the movie. I found this film to be very action-packed, with many moments keeping me on the edge of my seat.
In between thrilling scenes were multiple funny moments. I found the humor throughout the film to be similar to the skippers on the Jungle Cruise ride at the Disney parks. It was witty, quick, and forced you to pay attention or else you would miss it. You willl surely enjoy some hearty laughs if you choose to watch. The style of humor was a subtle yet effective reminder that this film is tied to the beloved ride.
Overall, “Jungle Cruise” is a solid choice for a movie night. It offers something for everyone, whether action, humor, or all around Disney joy. Although you will have to dedicate a hefty chunk of time to enjoy this film — 2 hours and 43 minutes to be exact–, it is well worth it!
“Jungle Cruise” is currently available in theaters or on Disney+ for $29.99. Starting November 12, it will be available for free on Disney+ for those with a subscription.
Whether you’re someone looking for a good movie or a way to add a little Disney into your life, “Jungle Cruise” should be a must-watch for all!
