Recently, the Interact Club brought both creativity and community spirit to the annual event known as “Totally Tables,” which is a local fundraiser hosted with the purpose of supporting the Methodist Church’s Friday Night Suppers program. The event, known for its lively atmosphere and themed table decorations, gave participants the chance to show off their creativity while raising money for a good cause.
This year marked Interact’s fourth time participating in the event, and the club didn’t disappoint. Led by senior and club president Emaan Ahmad, the group transformed their table into a whimsical scene inspired by The BFG by Roald Dahl. With a handcrafted paper tree stump centerpiece and strings of fairy lights, the display stood out among the crowd of elaborately themed tables.
“The event went well!” Ahmad said. “We helped raise money for the Methodist Church’s Friday Night Suppers by selling raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets.”
However, the club’s involvement went beyond decoration, with the members actively participating in the evening’s fundraising efforts. Those in attendance ended up purchasing raffle tickets, and several guests even donated extra tickets for Interact members to use.
“The highlight of the night,” Ahmad said with a smile, “was when I and an Immanuel Interact member finally won raffle prizes from the donated tickets!”
Moments like that, she said, are what make the hard work of setup and organization worth it. The event served not just as a fundraiser, but also as a chance for Interact members to engage with the community and connect with other service-minded groups.
For those who don’t know what Interact Club is, it’s a service-based club that focuses on giving back to the community through volunteer work and events, just like what was done through Totally Tables.
Looking ahead, the club isn’t planning on slowing down with contributing to the community anytime soon. Their next project is a pumpkin decorating activity with the Life Skills classes for Halloween, which is always a favorite annual tradition among the members, blending fun, creativity, and connection.
“We do this every year,” Ahmad said. “It’s so fun to spend time and bond with the students.”
From fairy lights and raffle prizes to future pumpkins and paint, the Interact Club continues to prove that Burroughs students know how to make service both meaningful and memorable.
