The Burroughs student body will light up the dance floor at tomorrow night’s “City of Lights” Homecoming dance, bringing a lively week of events to a close. Students will be keen to remember the behind-the-scenes work that goes into HOCO week.
While ASB organizes B Mountain painting, dodgeball, Amazing Race, and floatbuilding, the BHS cheerleaders coordinate the HOCO Rally, coronation, and the dance. On top of their regular stunts on the sidelines at football games and halftime performances, the cheerleaders have a lot on their plate.
“The team has utilized their teamwork by putting all hands on deck,” said Cheer Coach Missy Armendiaz. “Without everyone’s hard work, we wouldn’t be able to accomplish what we have. My hope for the week is that the girls are able to feel proud about the amount of effort they put into HOCO week preparation and have a fun time.”
The cheerleaders have been working around the clock to ensure HOCO festivities go smoothly. The cheer team has spent hours crafting and perfecting three new routines for the HOCO Rally, making posters for all of the football players, and selecting and arranging decorations to match the “City of Lights” dance theme.
HOCO week is a nerve-racking time for the cheerleaders, but the anticipation of seeing the final product of their efforts fills them with the spirit and energy to put on a brilliant rally and dance.
“Putting on HOCO week is always stressful but very fun for the cheerleaders, so it’s rewarding to see everything come together,” said Varsity Cheer Captain senior Kairi Davis.
The cheer team should be delighted with the outcome of their preparations. Let’s show our gratitude towards our cheerleaders for a job well done!
