Seniors are gearing up for the annual B Mountain painting this Saturday, Sept. 27.
One of the first sights seen when coming into town, painting B Mountain has become a staple in senior traditions at Burroughs.
“I am very excited for the experience because I grew up seeing the past senior classes painting it,” said senior Izabel Jauregui. “It’s like the kick-off to senior activities and traditions, so it’s an exciting start to senior year.”
Senior traditions such as these hold an importance in the senior class. Many find these activities as a way to make the most of their final year in high school.
“I think senior traditions build a sense of community,” said Senior Class Advisor Jessica Wilson. “Students come together from different groups and backgrounds to participate in these activities and it draws everyone closer.”
The infectious excitement among the class has even spread throughout the community. Local businesses like True Value have been selling “B Mountain Kits” for seniors to get all their supplies.
Students will gather on the Burroughs field for a Senior Sunrise celebration before caravanning to the painting site. Once there, the fun begins. This year, the soon-to-be-grads will be adding a short line to transform the 5 to a 6.
“B Mountain has been a symbol for the graduating class of Burroughs for many years, so I take great pride in helping contribute to the tradition,” senior Leo Wise said. “I look forward to being able to look back on these memories when I get older.”
