The last competition for the BHS robotics team is nearing, and it is the biggest one yet: VEX Worlds, the largest robotics competition in the world, hence the name.
Team 7422C, led by captain John Baronowski and including Zach Duchow, Brandon Duchow, Leon Almanzar, Everett Dickey, and Maggie Pham, will be traveling to Dallas next week for the final test of their efforts.
For the past few weeks they have been hard at work making a brand new robot.
“Our last robot did really well at our league competition, but if we want to win at Worlds, we need an upgrade,” said Baronowski.
John and his team hope to do their best at this next competition, hoping to make it to the final round and have the chance to be the world champions.
After their efforts at the regional state competition, Robotics Advisor Damien Jacotin commended the team on their efforts.
“It is the first time that a team reached the semifinals at the State Championship competition,” said Jacotin. “I am very proud of what they accomplished.”
The competition isn’t the only exciting thing happening at Worlds. At the end of the competition, next year’s game gets released. So far the only thing known about it is its name, “VRC Push Back.” The rest of the robotics team is theorizing and planning for next year while also helping Team C pack and get ready for Worlds.
