The Burroughs swim team faced tough competition at the Mt. Sac invitational, going up against nearly 1,900 swimmers from various schools. Despite the rough competition, the team still delivered many standout performances across multiple events.
In the Varsity Girls’ 50 Freestyle, Deborah Robeskey took first place in Heat 2, while Peyton Whiteley secured second. In the Varsity Boys’ 500 Freestyle, Josiah Smee earned fourth place in Heat 2, and Dustin Bui also placed fourth in the Individual Medley.
Special recognition goes to Tamanh Nguyen, who shaved an impressive 35 seconds off her 50 Freestyle, and Jessica Ford, who dropped roughly 20 seconds off her 100 Freestyle time despite being away for nearly two weeks.
“I think the first day of the meet was great, and everyone did very well,” said an anonymous swimmer.
The Burroughs swim team will go on to compete at their first league meet on March 27 in Apple Valley.
