For senior Mia Evans, cosmetology has always been more than just a hobby—it’s been a lifelong passion.
“The passion and love I have for cosmetology came to me at a very early age,” Evans shared. “I used to sit on the floor of my living room and play with my American Girl dolls’ hair for hours on end, teaching myself how to braid and ‘master’ all things hair.” Her interest wasn’t just limited to hairstyling; she also loved doing makeup and nails as she grew up.
In early 2022, Evans’ mother introduced her to the idea of spray tanning after taking her to get her first spray tan. “Within a couple of weeks from then, I had instantly picked it up, leading to my certification,” she said. “My official journey began on March 3, 2022, when I became certified by Norvell University as a ‘Core Sunless’ spray tan artist!”
Since then, Evans has continued to grow in her craft.
“I have since been re-certified as of January 25, 2025, and plan to eventually further my education in airbrushing and more hands-on technical training with famous artists like Isabel Alysa, CEO and founder of Dolce Glow,” she explained.
Her journey hasn’t just been about building a business—it’s been about personal growth, too.
“I started in my garage spraying my friends and am now established in a booth at Studio760 with some of the most amazing and talented people ever!” she said. But the path to success wasn’t always easy. “I struggled with putting myself out to the public because I cared too much about what other people thought about me, but now I love being the face of my business and being able to interact with my community.”
Evans attributes her success to two key values.
“Consistency and confidence are my number one priority for my business, clients, and self,” she said. “This is only a small portion of my journey—I can’t wait to share the rest!”
As she continues to expand her expertise and build her business, one thing is clear: Mia Evans is making a name for herself in the world of cosmetology, and she’s just getting started.
