Think there’s nothing to do in Ridgecrest? Think again.
Ridgecrest’s beloved Sierra Lanes bowling alley closed after the 2019 earthquakes, when high school students were in middle or elementary school. Now the facility has undergone a major makeover, and we couldn’t be more excited for its reopening. After weeks of renovation, the revamped bowling alley is now open and ready to welcome both old and new customers.
Located at 634 S. China Lake Blvd, Sierra Lanes has undergone a complete transformation. The most noticeable change is the modern, sleek look that greets visitors as soon as they step inside.
The old, outdated lanes have been replaced with shiny new ones, and the entire interior has been updated with a new layout. The layout now incorporates two pool tables, two bouncy-houses, and lots of arcade games alongside the lanes. The new digital scoring system is a huge hit, making it easier for bowlers of all ages to keep track of their game.
“The new look is amazing. It feels way more modern, and I love the new games they added,” said Burroughs senior Hank Lint. “It’s great to have an actual hangout spot in town now.”
Sierra Lanes is the perfect place for all kinds of group outings, from family outings and birthday parties to teen hangouts and date nights. “Bowling is one of those timeless activities that brings people together- whether you’re a pro or just there for the laughs,” said Burroughs senior Lisha Bryant.
It’s a place where you can bowl a few games, grab a bite, and just enjoy the atmosphere.
“We’ve needed something like this for so long,” said Bryant. “There’s really not much to do around here after school or on weekends, so this gives us a great place to hang out.”
The upgrades to Sierra Lanes aren’t just about looks—they’ve also made the alley more accessible and family-friendly, with ramps and wider aisles for easier movement. For those who love bowling, the alley now offers league nights and birthday party packages, so there’s something for everyone.
Sierra Lanes is open seven days a week, with hours designed for all kinds of visitors. You can bowl Sunday from noon to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday from 2-10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight. Whether you’re stopping by after school, looking for a weekend night out, or planning a family gathering, there’s plenty of time to enjoy the fun.

So, lace up your bowling shoes and grab your friends- it’s time to hit the lanes.
