Burroughs High School is once again partnering with the Houchin Blood Bank for its annual blood drive, scheduled for Nov. 5.
Organized by the ASB class, this year’s blood drive is expected to have a great turnout of staff and students as always.
“We saw it as a great opportunity for our students and staff to help save lives,” explained ASB President Ryan Morrison. “It was a no-brainer.”
This year’s sign-ups include repeat donors and those who will be giving for the first time, such as Zack Wright. Wright said he wanted the chance to save a life and help the community.
He had a simple piece of advice for his fellow students who might feel unsure about signing up.
“It is okay to be nervous,” said Wright.
Morrison echoed Wright’s reassurances.
“It may sound scary at first, but these phlebotomists are professionals at what they do and there are millions of people who donate every year,” said Morrison. “Just think about what your donation could do to save a life.”
If you are interested in donating, please contact a member of BHS ASB or ASB Advisor Laura Larson. The deadline to sign up is today.
